The client had an existing concept for a drop-front shoe storage box intended for home organization.
While the product was functional, it needed improvements in:
• Ease of access when opening and closing
• Overall proportions and visual cleanliness
• Structural reliability for repeated daily use
• Design details suitable for mass production
At the start, the design required refinement rather than a complete reinvention.
I focused on refining the product design while preserving its original intent and functionality.
My contribution included:
• Improving the drop-front opening mechanism for smoother operation
• Refining proportions and surface details for a cleaner look
• Strengthening structural elements while keeping the design lightweight
• Optimizing part geometry for injection molding
• Simplifying the overall design to support efficient assembly
• Preparing the product for prototyping and production
The final design delivered a cleaner, more practical shoe storage box that improves everyday usability.
The result:
• Allows easy access to stored shoes
• Maintains a minimal and modern appearance
• Is durable enough for repeated use
• Is suitable for large-scale manufacturing
